Racing animals is not 'essential'

In stark contradiction to the new restrictions passed down by the federal government, the racing industry has been allowed to continue, despite new social distancing laws.

Staff at a typical race meeting include trainers, jockeys, vets, strappers, farriers, stewards, handlers, stable and kennel staff, all required to be in close proximity & many traveling between towns and suburbs, and even interstate.

The racing industry is seeking exemptions to restrictions put on inter-state travel, with many states effectively closing their borders.

We are calling on the Minister for Health and State Premiers to immediately ban all horse and greyhound racing to protect the public.

You can contact the Health Minister below. We also encourage you to also contact the Prime Minister seperately as well.

Update 2 April 2020 - The Tasmanian Premier has banned all 3 codes of racing (for at least 4 weeks). No other states have yet announced a ban.
